About Clear Braces in Sugar Land

Amaya Orthodontics is proud to offer clear braces to our patients in Sugar Land, Greatwood, Missouri City, and surrounding areas!

Also referred to as ceramic braces, tooth-colored braces, or aesthetic braces, Dr. Malik uses clear braces from 3M Clarity to align your teeth in the same way she would with metal braces.

All About Clear Braces

Our 3M Clarity clear braces at Amaya Orthodontics are designed to be less noticeable on your teeth than metal braces.

The brackets are small, lightweight, and made of nearly invisible tooth-colored polycrystalline ceramic material.

These ceramic options blend in well with your natural smile.

Though they're not completely invisible, and the brackets are about the same size and shape, patients at Amaya Orthodontics choose this option if they want a less-obvious treatment.

Ceramic braces offer patients a discreet treatment option, but they can sometimes be slightly more fragile than metal braces. Because of this, Dr. Malik typically recommends them for older teen and adult patients.

For an even less obvious way to straighten your smile, pair ceramic brackets with clear, white, or tooth-colored wires and elastic ties. This option is especially attractive if you’re an adult or teen in Sugar Land who’s worried about their orthodontic treatment being seen by others.

Dr. Malik offers ceramic braces to older patients who may want an aesthetic treatment option, but don't like the extra hassle of removable aligners and the responsibility of wear time.

Even though most of our Amaya Orthodontics patients in ceramic braces love how discrete they are, we do have some teens and adults who like to use colored ligature ties to get a very unique, almost neon look.

The Differences Between Clear & Metal Braces

Metal braces are known all around Sugar Land for their durability and strength. Ceramic braces are also tough, but they are made from a different, more fragile material that is slightly more prone to chipping or cracking.

If you need more drastic corrections, Dr. Malik may determine metal braces could be a better option. Adjustments with ceramic braces have to be slightly smaller, so it can take a little more time to align your teeth.

Having said that, both types of braces work on the same principles and tend to be equally as effective in most cases.

You may be worried about ceramic braces staining, but that hasn’t been a problem for several years. Ceramic brackets won’t stain, but the adhesive used to attach the brackets to the teeth and the clear elastic ties used to hold the wires can stain which can give an overall impression of staining over time.

You can choose to avoid things like coffee and tea, red wine, tomatoes, mustard, etc. to cut back on the chance of any staining. However, this isn’t necessary since Dr. Malik makes sure we change your elastics at every adjustment appointment.

As long as you maintain a good oral hygiene routine and follow the treatment plan put in place by Dr. Malik, you shouldn’t have to worry too much about giving up your morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine.

Cost of Clear Braces in Sugar Land

Treatment fees will vary depending on the complexity of your orthodontic treatment. Dr. Malik will determine a treatment fee that fits your specific orthodontic needs, and our office will do everything we can to accommodate you and your budget.

One of the biggest factors that impact your total treatment cost at Amaya Orthodontics will be the materials used to make your braces. In our Sugar Land office, ceramic brackets cost a little more than metal brackets.

The good news is, at Amaya Orthodontics you’ll benefit from flexible payment plans, automatic bank drafts, and we’ll also check with your Texas insurance company for any orthodontic benefits. Our goal is to provide outstanding value to Sugar Land and beyond for a reasonable fee.

We need to factor in the work it takes to put your braces on, adjust them, and remove them into your total treatment cost. Placing and removing ceramic braces demands more attention and technique from our experts at Amaya Orthodontics and this requires more time.

Our treatment coordinators will be happy to go over the cost with you at your first free consultation at our office in Sugar Land.

Best for Adults

After a thorough orthodontic evaluation with Dr. Malik, we can determine which treatment option will be best for you and your smile.

At Amaya Orthodontics, we think ceramic braces are generally better suited to adults and older teens. This is because ceramic brackets tend to require slightly more upkeep than metal braces.
